Calculate your semester GPA from courses, credit hours and grades, then combine it with your previous CGPA to get the updated cumulative CGPA. The grade-point scale is editable because Pakistani universities don't all use the same one.
How to use
- Choose a grade-point scale, or edit points to match your transcript.
- Enter each course's credit hours and grade.
- Optionally add your previous CGPA and credit hours completed.
- Read your semester GPA and cumulative CGPA.
Example
Courses of 3, 3, 3, 2 and 1 credit hours with A, B+, B, A- and A on the 4.00 letter scale give 12 + 9.99 + 9 + 7.34 + 4 = 42.33 quality points over 12 credit hours, so the semester GPA is 42.33 ÷ 12 = 3.53.
GPA vs CGPA
GPA is the credit-weighted average for one semester: Σ(credit hours × grade points) ÷ Σ credit hours. CGPA applies the same formula to every course you've taken so far. To update CGPA without re-entering old courses, ZIYNU multiplies your previous CGPA by previous credit hours, adds this semester's quality points and divides by the combined credit hours.
Good to know
- Courses graded Pass/Fail or Withdrawn usually aren't counted in GPA — leave them out.
- Converting CGPA to percentage uses each university's own formula; there's no universal conversion.
